OUR HISTORY
Founded in 2016, the Falcons Ladies Football Club was created to give young women in Stellenbosch and beyond the chance to play football while promoting their personal growth and empowerment. What began as a high school team, SSS Falcons in Jamestown, grew into a strong community of female footballers.
In 2019, we partnered with Spurs FC and competed under their name in the Regional Women’s Football League. The Covid-19 pandemic halted our progress, but also inspired us to rebrand and rebuild. In 2020, we launched a new logo and colours, and registered as a Non-Profit Organisation with the Department of Social Development and a Non-Profit Company with the CIPC.

We strive to instil in our players the qualities of an active footballer and an active citizen, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, discipline, and community engagement. Furthermore, we strive to provide them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential and become active contributors to both the football community and society at large.
We envision that every member of the Falcons Ladies Football Club reaches their full potential, both on and off the field. Our vision extends beyond football, as we aspire to see our players succeed in all aspects of life. We aim to score life goals by providing them with the necessary support, resources, and guidance to excel academically, professionally, and personally.
our ethos
gothia cup 2019
In 2019, We reached a historic milestone by participating in the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden. This marked the first time our young players flew internationally to represent not only our club but also the Western Cape — and as the first South African female team of the new millennium to compete in this prestigious tournament.
The Gothia Cup, known as the world’s largest youth football tournament with teams from over 80 countries, provided invaluable experience for our girls. Despite funding constraints, 13 dedicated players showcased their talent and determination, proudly reaching the round of 16 in their age group. Coming from farming communities and facing the stigma of being underestimated, our girls proved that their potential knew no bounds. Many of them come from underprivileged households, often headed by grandparents, single mothers, or guardians — yet they carried themselves with courage, dignity, and resilience on the world stage.
The journey was about more than football. For many players, it was their first flight, first international trip, and first opportunity to experience new cultures while testing their abilities against the best youth teams in the world. They built friendships, gained confidence, and showed that South African girls belong at the highest level of the game.
Our participation in the Gothia Cup highlighted the skill, strength, and unity of our club, proving that football can transcend barriers and create life-changing opportunities. The experience continues to inspire our players and community, reminding us all that when given a chance, young girls can rise, shine, and inspire the world.
